THE LIBRARY BOOK by Susan Orlean
This book gives all the pleasure of wandering in a library, never knowing what treasure you will encounter. I learned so much about the library that became a victim of arson, library patrons, the challenge of running a library. I also learned that no matter how competent, a woman librarian in the 1920’s could be fired for being a woman. The collection of books, how to restore damaged ones, the collection of oddballs that are collected in libraries… So much to learn!
