THE LEAF AND THE CLOUD by Mary Oliver

What a memoir/meditation/long poem! Oliver hints at trauma in her childhood, but doubles back and says it never happened. She keeps repeating that she doesn’t want to give her family the responsibility of her life. I never thought of confessional poetry in that way.
