THE CAKEMAKER, what a film!

What a quietly told, beautifully acted, and surprising film. Don’t look too closely at reviews because they might give away the astonishing plot. Rotten Tomatoes gave it a full five stars and I’m with them. Sarah Adler, the heroine, is so gifted. I think the overly made-up, overly nipped and tucked and bleached look of American film stars take away from their ability to act. I notice that the film is available on streaming too just in case you can’t get to the theater. English subtitles on this Israeli-German film.
