Skyfall, a yawn until Javier Bardem comes into the picture
The action is, well, active, the graphics of the hackerare brilliant, but it felt tiresome to me all the same until the villain, Javier Barden showed himself. The first film I ever saw Javier Bardem in was Before Night Falls, based on the posthumously published novel by a Cuban poet about the crackdown on homosexuals in Cuba. In Skyfall, Javier Bardem with his bleached blond hair is also homosexual. Fascinating how you can compare his performances. Nothing generic about them. Last time he was the vulnerable victim, With this character, his suffering leads to victimizing others. I know, I know, there are a lot of great shots of Daniel Craig without a shirt, but for me, Javier Bardem made this film.
Oh, and wait until you hear Adele singing the theme song: Skyfall.
May 007 movies be around another 50 years.
