Remember Henry Hudson, the Native American man who weighed 1500 lbs? I put a photo of him wearing a striped prison suit on my fridge to remind me not to overeat.

When Charles, my son,  was seven, I saw him staring at the photo.
“What are you thinking, Charles?
“I wonder if that man is too big to have sex,” he said.
“I don’t think he could get near enough to anyone ”
“Maybe it’s like Pinocchio’s nose. He tells lies and it gets bigger and bigger.”
“What lies do you suppose he tells?” I asked.
“He says to the ladies, ‘This is really going to feel good.””
