IMPOSSIBLE: the movie, the end of a world.
This film is a metaphor for how any of our lives could be swept away in a moment by anything. When that behometh wall of water strikes Thailand and the camera lens is focused on a couple with three kids in a vacation paradise, it makes us desperate to cling to everyone we love. I feel it now.
We all know what a brilliant actors Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor are, but how does a director, in this case, Juan Antonio Bayona, get such perfomances from kids? Tom Holland’s performance matches Watt’s and McGregor’s and he was only thirteen when the film was made. Even more surprising was his younger brothers’ played by Oaklee Pendergast and Samuel Joslin.
The film is a visual stunner as well. Go see The Impossible, but hold on tight!
