MYSTERY ADVENTURE
By Rebecca Z. S. (Age 11)
It was summer vacation and Kate and her family were at Cape Cod. Every morning Kate would walk to the beach, which was very close by the hotel the family was staying in, and explore all the mini islands, boulders, crevices, crabs and shells. One morning when Kate was walking to the beach, something in a tree caught her eye. There was something waving inside the tall oak. Kate ran over and climbed up as fast as she could. When she got to the top she grabbed the mysterious object and realized it was a piece of paper. She read it and it said “Search the island of shells to the tallest boulder. The little tunnel will lead straight to a cave where the thing you desire is.” Kate knew where the “island of shells” or Shell Island was. She had gone there with her family before. Kate took the paper and got her kayak and swiftly paddled over to the close, little island that was shaped like a shell. She started climbing over boulders until she got to the tallest. She marveled it for a moment and crawled through the dank little tunnel, and was blinded momentarily by the bright light of the cave. Suddenly she saw it, her lost watch, the one she lost when hiking with her family right near the tall rock. “Thank you mystery person,” Kate said, “Mother will be so happy.”
