FREDERICK DOUGLASS by William McFeely is a prize-winning biography of this extraordinary man who escaped slavery and became a world-renowned speaker and writer for the abolitionist cause. How hard he had to fight all his life and keep on fighting as one has to these days.

This is especially important to read since the Supreme Court just allowed states to redistrict so that black people’s votes don’t count as much. Douglass had to fight every step of his life to have full citizenship. This fight never ends.
