CAFE SOCIETY, what did you think?
Saw Cafe Society today. I’m sort of torn about it. It was nowhere near Midnight in Paris nor Blue Jasmine. What I loved was Stewart’s performance. (She must be thrilled to be out of the Twilight series, vamping vampires.) And Jesse Eisenberg is brilliant as an alter ego of Woody instead of trying to write material that is Woody Allenesque himself. I saw him in a play that he wrote. He had no logical emotional arc and, if I recall, because I wanted to forget immediately, his character pooped on a girl in elementary school. That was the crux. Or should I say crud?
