I grew up above our family candy store in South Philadelphia. It was not a ‘one-man-show,’ but rather a family enterprise. But the store was open six-and-a-half days a week, and we had the same register. Your poem is so evocative. It takes me back forty years. Thanks for the ticket back in time.
