Chris Ofili’s THE HOLY VIRGIN MARY at the MOMA
Seeing Ofili’s painting at the new MOMA today reminded me that when Guiliani was mayor, he sued the Brooklyn Museum for showing it. It offended the former mayor’s sensibillity that dried dung and porn images of buttocks were incorporated into the painting. Now Olifi is in the canon of a major world artists and Guiliani might be off to prison. Go know.
